The Ministry of Education developed the teaching of ethnic languages in basic education schools during the 2013-2014 school years in order to preserve and develop local languages, literatures and cultures.
During the 2014-2015 school years, the ministry distributed books written in ethnic languages to improve the teaching of ethnic language and literature in schools at the primary level.
“The nomination process will take place during the year. The number of language teachers who will be appointed depends on the budget of the Ministry of Education, ”U Win Naing added.
Currently, the Ministry of Education provides K 30,000 per month to teachers of ethnic languages. If they become teaching assistants, their salary will increase. Then, the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs will negotiate with the Ministry of Education to appoint them permanent teachers, upon graduation.
Teachers who wish to become teaching assistants in basic education schools can submit the application form to the respective regional and national government through the cantonal education offices.
