Allen Media Group Local Now Launches 27 Very Local News Channels in Hearst


Allen Media Group and Hearst Television said they have reached an agreement under which Allen’s free Local Now streaming service will carry 27 of Hearst’s highly local news channels.

The ad-supported streaming channels, serving 26 US media markets in 39 states, provide news and local content produced by Hearst’s television stations.

“Local Now has the most local channels of any free streaming platform,” said Byron Allen, founder, president and CEO of Local Now’s parent company, Allen Media Group. “We are thrilled to bring the best local programming from Hearst Television to the Local Now platform. Our users value the premium local news channels they know and trust. »

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Local Now provides local content to 225 markets. It competes with Sinclair Broadcast Group’s NewsON and Syncbak’s VUit and Gray Television. ■
