The former Vanderbilt guard practiced for teams last week at the NBA Combine in Chicago.
After declaring his intention to enter the NBA draft and sign with a return agent in April, former Vanderbilt guard Scotty Pippen Jr. got his biggest chance to show off his skills last week at the NBA Combine. Pippen Jr. raised his draft stock after a solid week of practice in front of a crowd of NBA scouts who attended the event.
The Combine took place May 16-22 at Chicago’s Wintrust Arena, just a few miles from where his father, Scottie Pippen, played his legendary career with the Chicago Bulls. For the young Pippen who made the Combine a sort of homecoming; he grew up in the nearby suburb of Highland Park and still considers it residence. Pippen Jr. participated in the last NBA G-League elite camp summerbut earned an invitation to the Combine this year due to his outstanding performance at Vanderbilt last season.
The former SEC first-team guard didn’t disappoint once he got his chance. After measure in at 6’1.5, 180 pounds, Pippen Jr. shone in both of his scrimmage opportunities. In Thursday’s opener, he finished with 11 points and 6 assists, including just pennies. In Game 4 on Friday, he led all scorers with 21 points to go along with three assists and two steals.

Pippen Jr. also showed his defensive acumen in competitions, a noticeable improvement in his game from a season ago. The Chicago native disrupted passing lanes, resumed his all-court assignment, and constantly harassed his opponents. Reports surfaced during the showcase that scouts in attendance were also impressed with Pippen’s basketball IQ, a will to his time under Jerry Stackhouse at Vanderbilt. Pippen Jr. almost certainly helped his stock last week as he appears to be selected in the upcoming NBA draft in June.

After the Combine, Pippen Jr. sign an agreement with the Los Angeles-based agency Klutch Sports Group. Klutch is one of the most prestigious NBA agencies, founded by Lebron James and his friend and colleague Rich Paul. The group represents more than 20 NBA athletes, including a former commodore Darius Garland.
